Thumper 30AH Battery Pack Review

_
Camping in the early days, when we needed power, we had to rely on our car 12v cigarette lighter to run our lighting needs. It was fraught with anxiety – would our car be able to restart after having the lights on for a while?
Friends used their car 12v to recharge their children’s electronic devices, and when it came time to leave the campsite, they had to run around to other campers asking for a jump restart of their now, dead, car!
That is when we investigated the Thumper Battery Pack. It’s made in South Australia and has a strong group of supporters in the camping and 4WD forums.
It’s not the cheapest, but IMHO you get what you pay for.
It now meets all our lighting needs, plus capable of running small fridges, jump starting petrol based vehicles, and recharging all electronic devices including our phones. Some appliances require the use of an inverter eg. Using a 12v DC and converting to a 240v AC. Such inverters can be purchased at the time of the Thumper. It is an invaluable asset to the Thumper, and highly recommended as it increases the range of what this battery pack is capable of.
It is quick to charge – we either use 240v to do so (if available) or hook it up to our solar panels (which we always take when we travel for more than 2 days). Or alternatively, when travelling, connect to our car 12v in the rear of the car, simultaneously charging other items.
As for any battery pack, there are limitations on how you charge and for how long. The Thumper is no exception, but with careful use this battery pack can last for years. Should you need to refurbish it, that is an option which saves you going out and buying a completely new battery pack.
There are numerous varieties of battery packs out there. We chose this one because of consistent good reviews from other campers. We don’t regret this purchase at all and would buy another Thumper without hesitation..
We purchased it from http://www.homeof12volt.com.au
Like any product, read the instructions and get to know the Thumper’s capabilities and how to use and get the best out of it.
