Sawyer Squeeze Water Filtration System Review
“Don’t drink the water”
“Water not suitable for drinking”
“Treat before use”
Warnings that you might have seen when camping at campsites that have rainwater tanks or bore water available.
Or maybe the only water around is that from a river, or lake?
Your options are:
- bring in all your water that you will need for the duration of the camping
- sterilise the water to make it safe using a variety of methods.
Now, bringing all your water that you need takes up valuable space and you also need to ration your water usage. Sterilisation techniques do vary, and we do have a number of them already, including the Steri-Pen, Katadyn Filter and Lifestraw.
And now we have another!!

A new sterilisation idea
We have started using the Sawyer Squeeze™ Filter and its so perfect if you are looking to fill up your water bottles or any water that you will be drinking and know that its safe from nasty and dangerous bacteria.
The Lifestraw is great to have in your backpack if you just want to drink straight from the source, but what sets the Sawyer Squeeze™ Filter apart is that a large amount of water is filtered quickly and easily.
So if you can squeeze a plastic bag, then you can work this filtration system!
Fill up the bag with the untreated water (maybe from a lake, stream, bore water tap), put the filter on and squeeze the water through the filter. Drink the water!
See pics below for how it works.
