MSR Mugmate Review
If you like a decent cup of coffee when camping , then you have come to the right place for advice. Not afraid to admit that we are "coffee snobs". No instant dried coffee for us. Our pick-me-up in the morning, must be freshly brewed coffee. And this is where the Mugmate comes in.......
The MSR Mugmate is the ideal lightweight and compact way to get filtered coffee while away from home. We tried taking a coffee plunger with us on the road, but they aren’t built for traveling and break quite easily. We bought a camping plunger from an outdoors shop, but when you press it down, it explodes all over the person pressing the plunger, no matter how careful you are.
The MSR Mugmate simply sits inside your cup and you put your coffee grounds inside it.
You then pour the hot water into the mugmate. The water filters though the grounds and provides a good coffee anywhere. Let the coffee steep for a couple of minutes to get a stronger brew.
It’s really easy to clean up too. Just toss out the grounds, give it a rinse and it’s ready to go again. We store it in a cup to protect it when in our backpacks or with our camping supplies.
Tea drinkers too, will enjoy the quality of a fresh brew as opposed to a teabag
