Bendalong Tourist Park, South Coast, NSW
Bendalong Point Tourist Park is a great spot to unwind for a couple of days on the South Coast of New South Wales.
Located roughly 3 hours drive south of Sydney, a beautiful coastal drive through farmland and breathtaking sea views, you’ll find the tourist park with options for everyone.
This is a guest post from Tom and Fatima from Outbackeroo.

Where is it?
You can find Bendalong at 1 Waratah Street, Bendalong NSW 2539.
If you’re coming from Sydney, it’s highly recommended you take the route through coastal towns, such as Kiama, Gerringong and Berry - it’s a beautiful drive.
Campers coming from the South of Bendalong you can also experience excellent roads through towns, such as Milton and Bawley Point.

About the campsite
To stay at Bendalong you need to book online. It was $28 for a campsite. There are options for powered and unpowered sites. You can also opt for a cabin if that is your thing.
We were on a powered site. It was mostly dirt with some patches of grass, however, the surface was flat so we had no issues. Other sites had much more grass than our spot.
The amenities and facilities at Bendalong were super clean and tidy.
The toilets and showers were very clean. They were pretty stock standard for a Tourist Park and inside a building. Bendalong also offers a camp kitchen featuring BBQs, microwave, fridge and a sink area to clean up.

Here are some quick answers to some FAQs you may have:
- Car space? Yes. There was room on our site (6 people) for a car, tent and gazebo-style set up. You could easily fit a lot of gear on these sites.
- Access to park facilities? Yes. You have access to everything.
- Wi-Fi? Yes. The park offers free Wi-Fi to all guests.
- Phone reception? Yes. We are both with Telstra and had a solid 4G connection.
Things to Do
There’s plenty of things to do right in the park and endless days worth of exploring close by in neighbouring suburbs.
Explore the short hiking trails around the headlands. If you walk around the campsite, you’ll find little trails that head off into the bush. You can follow them right around the headlands and find yourself isolated from everyone else overlooking amazing water views.
Enjoy the amazing beaches. There are two large beaches on either side of the campground. The back beach has a great surf break if you’re into surfing. It’s also a lot of fun watching the surfers from the shore.
Swim with the stingrays in the bay! My favourite part of Bendalong was the bay. It’s a 2 minute walk from the campsite and is a truly unique experience. If you look carefully at the photo below, you’ll see two fin shapes that belong to stingrays! There must have been 5-10 stingrays at any given time, which came right up to ankle deep waters. We visited the bay 3 times and each time we saw several stingrays swimming past our feet!
Bendalong is located right next door to Jervis Bay, so you’re right in the heart of the South Coast. There’s plenty to do around here, especially if you are staying for an extended trip.
You can find a list of great things on the Visit NSW website, so I won’t cover those.
We did find an absolute gem of a hike just near Berry (about a 45min drive from Bendalong). The hike is called Drawing Room Rocks. And it’s one of the best views I’ve personally seen in Australia. It’s well worth the trek up, which is a steep incline.

The bottom line
Bendalong Point Tourist Park is a fantastic little camp spot considering it’s a tourist park.
What we loved
- Beautiful drive into Bendalong with plenty of great small towns to stop in.
- The lovely locals are happy to have a chat.
- You’re surrounded by beaches with breathtaking views of the ocean.
- Great surf beach.
- Stingrays swim right up to the shoreline - it’s a very unique experience.
What we didn’t like
- It seems to be a popular spot for groups of 18-20 year olds who were a bit loud.
- It is a Tourist Park - but we knew this going in!
Would we recommend you go?
Bendalong isn’t our usual campsite. But with that said we would highly recommend Bendalong. It’s just in a fantastic location and we had some truly unique experiences.
If you don’t like a Tourist Park vibe then book an unpowered site right on the far end of the park. We saw these sites when we explored the park and would book one of these if we visited again.
